Nashville Diocese and Fr. John Sappenfield

Dear Bishop Choby,

You have given me hope in the Catholic Church. Thank you for removing Fr. Sappenfield. Too often these relationships are seen as 'natural' or as 'affairs' when in fact these relationships are sexual exploitation. Sappenfield's behavior is a crime in a three states and many states have bills pending regarding clergy's unlawful sexual relations with parishioners. Hopefully other diocese around the country, starting with the Wichita, KS Diocese/ Bishop Michael Jackels, will follow your lead and remove priests, like Fr. Nicholas Voelker and Fr. Jeffery Fasching, that abuse their position of power.

Sincerely,

Peggy Warren

Does the Boston Archdiocese really have it all figured out?

Priest facing sex allegations
By Nandini Jayakrishna and Maria Sacchetti
Globe Correspondent | Globe Staff / July 26, 2009
The Archdiocese of Boston has barred a Brazilian priest from performing public ministry following allegations against him of “adult sexual misconduct,’’ church officials said yesterday in a statement.
The Rev. Pedro J. Damázio had been serving as parochial vicar of St. Anthony of Padua in Cambridge and has also served the immigrant Brazilian community throughout the Archdiocese of Boston for more than 10 years, said Kelly Lynch, a spokeswoman for the archdiocese. Lynch said she could not give any details about the timing, nature, or source of the allegations against Damázio. Law enforcement officials are investigating the matter and the archdiocese has also begun an internal investigation, Lynch said.

CAN IT REALLY BE THE CASE THAT THE BOSTON ARCHDIOCESE, THAT ALLOWED CHILDREN TO BE RAPED, UNDERSTANDS THAT ADULT CLERGY SEXUAL EXPLOITATION IS WRONG? In fact wrong enough to REMOVE the clergyman, the exploiter? How can that be when the Wichita Catholic Diocese and too many other diocese across the country to list, (with the exception of the Arlington, TX, Diocese) continue to allow adult clergy sexual exploiters to stay in ministry, like Fr. Nicholas Voelker and Fr. Jeffrey Fasching, (who actually 'left' the Wichita Diocese 5 yrs ago, with I have to assume a shove from Msgr. Hemberger since just a month prior Fasching was turned in once again for the umpthteen time for sexually exploiting yet another adult woman, but was brought back into ministry at the end of last year by non other than bishop of the decade, Bishop Michael Jackels)? Ok, give up? I will answer my own question. The majority of Catholic Diocese around the world leave adult clergy exploiters in ministry because the Catholic Church DOES NOT CARE ABOUT PEOPLE IN GENERAL. The focus of their 'care' is on how much money and power they can continue to swindle out of society. Mass anyone?

GITMO

I support allowing the Gitmo detainees to be brought to the United States because what the U.S. Government is doing now, is not working. It is unjust and unethical to leave these prisoners incarcerated without due process. Bring them to the U.S., allow their cases to play out within our court system and then take the next step of incarcerating them or letting them free. Keeping them at Gitmo gives the U.S. a worse image than what the world already views the U.S. as - a big bully.

Sincerly,

Mrs. Peggy Warren

When are Catholics going to wake up?

TFMM,
Are you serious when you ask 'Who was it that said this to the boys?' Go to www.bishop-accountability.org and take your pick from the 4,300+ priests that are on the list of prepetrating priests with credible allegations. Fr. Thomas Neary would tell 10 yr old Charles Bailey that if he would tell his mother that his parish priest was sodimizing him on a daily basis for two years that his mother wouldn't love him anymore. Fr. Neary would tell little Charles that when he would become a priest he would sodomize little boys too. Fr. Neary would tell him to stop crying while he was raping Charles because after all Jesus suffered more. TFMM, take off your rose colored glasses and educate yourself.
Cecilia Bush, maybe you want to start praying for and speaking out for the thousands of children that YOUR Catholic Bishops and priests have raped over the centeries, like the 31 boys who were molested by BISHOP Laurence Soens of the Sioux City, IA. diocese. Life should be valued born and unborn.

Father Philippe de Maupeou

11/21/2008
Protesters opposed priest
CANADA
Northern News

A group of protesters gathered in front of St. Paul's University yesterday to alert the public that a Quebec priest who molested an eight-year-old girl on a 2004 church camping trip is studying law there.

Father Philippe de Maupeou, who pleaded guilty in 2007 and served a six-month conditional sentence, is studying canon law on a three-year, $60,000 scholarship at the Main St. religious university. Protesters argued de Maupeou shouldn't even be a priest any more.

"This priest needs to be let go, and that's what we're here to tell people about," protester Carlo Tarini said.

IS FATHER PHILIPPE DE MAUPEOU STUDYING LAW SO THAT THE NEXT TIME HE MOLESTS A CHILD HE WILL BE ABLE TO DEFEND HIMSELF! PURE EVIL! WHO WERE THE MORONS THAT GAVE HIM THE $60,000 SCHOLARSHIP...LET ME GUESS THE MAIN ST. RELIGIOUS UNIVERSITY! THE UNIVERSITY NEEDS SOME EDUCATING!

Dr. Phil

Dear Dr. Phil,

On your show, Nov. 13th, 2008, you had a guest on that described his rape as a child at the age of 9yrs. old and his inability to walk after the rape. In the past 3 yrs of advocating for victims of clergy sexual abuse, I have talked with hundreds of victims, many of them children who tell the same story of your guest today. One story that ran through my mind as I was listening to your guest was that of a young man from New Orleans who was raped by his parish priest at the age of 6 yrs old, after the priest raped his older brother. The six yr old was unable to walk home and his older brother carried him home. I read the recently published, In the Shadow of a Cross by Charles Bailey, he writes candidly like nothing I've ever read before of his daily rape by his parish priest for two straight years, starting at age 10 yrs., and his inability to stop the bleeding on certain days thinking he would bleed to death, wishing he would bleed to death, so that he might not have to live through tomorrow, through another rape. Unlike your guest today, these men, children at the time of their rapes, thought they were in the presence of servant of God. The majority of the time, the priest was the child's friend and mentor only to be raped once in the palm of the priest's hands. This is not a past story from 2002 when the Boston Scandal broke. If you read www.abusetracker.org, you will realize that the abuse is continuing and the cover up is alive and well. Pope Benedict's words last year was smoke and mirrors. A recent story of abuse is out of St. Paul, MN, a three yr. old baby girl abused by the parish priest, all the while the 'celibate' priest is sexually exploiting the mother, both of which are felonies in Mn. As soon as the priest was let out of jail, the vicar general of the diocese packed the priest's luggage to get him out of the country, back to his home country of Ecuador, only to continue to abuse. The abuse breaks my heart, the cover up is infuriating and the hypocrisy makes my blood boil. Since the election, Catholic bishops are telling people that voted for Obama, that they should not receive communion because they are supporting abortion by voting for Obama. Bishops telling people that they need to worry about their salvation for voting for Obama. What about these bishops aiding and abetting sexual predators for centuries, most of them predators themselves, just this week a bishop in Iowa, with 31 allegations of sexual abuse. Another bishop from Milwaukee this week in a deposition stated that he didn't tell parishes about the pedophile priest because he knew the priest 'wouldn't be welcomed'. These men that don't realize that it is morally wrong to not warn people of child rapists and that not welcoming a rapist is the way to go, are psychopaths. These bishops should be in prison. They aid and abet child rapists, everyone knows this, no one disputes this, NOT EVEN THEM, so why are they not in prison? Catholic Bishops are the epidomy of hypocrisy. Please do a show educating the public of the life lasting effects of clergy sexual abuse and highlighting the characteristics of clergy predators. We, who do know the effects must share this information with the rest of the public so that state by state we might eliminate the statute of limitations on childhood sexual abuse. Clergy abuse victims deserve a voice in the pubic realm. The media bows to the church's beck and call even when their message is so ludicrous, people don't even question anymore. Please help give clergy abuse victims a voice.
Thank you for helping people that need it.

Peace,
Peggy Warren
